A volunteer writes: Little Bonnie was found with her Clyde, abandoned in a park.....just like that, in the cold heart of winter.....I did not meet Clyde yet but Bonnie, although pretty and so girly-looking, is skinny and unkempt. Bonnie is understandably very hungry. She sits uncertainly, her eyes going back and forth from my face to the roast beef I hold in my hands. She sometimes dares to jump to take it , then goes back to her begging position. She seems to know by experience that us humans can mean good, but also bad. She has to be careful, play it by ear and check carefully for my next move. Bonnie is friendly, not fearful, although humble. Her tail wags a lot. She wants to show me how good a little dog she is. She comes on the bench next to me. She senses I am a friend. I feed her. I pet her. She lets her guard down. She is on my lap....all kisses. Dogs are so amazing. Bonnie needs a break in her life. She is sheltered at the Manhattan Care Center and waiting for her chance to start her life as a beloved pet, a forever best friend in your hands and with your love and care.

If you cannot adopt foster ! Fostering is free and does not have to be pernament it can be short term but will save a life ..contact a rescue group from the link above for more info about fostering
From The ACC site: To help ensure successful adoptions, please fill out a pre-adoption application (http://www.nycacc.org/pdfs/adoptions/AdoptionApplication.pdf) and bring it with you when you come into the Care Center to adopt a pet.
