A volunteer writes:
Smokey, an elegant dame, a cross between a Pitie and a Shepie, came to us with her little friend Baguette, an apricot Poodle, as their owner was evicted. Smokey is a very pretty and delicate looking female . She wears her age of 10 quite well . She is trim, up and about and relates nicely to her environment and people around her. She is very much housetrained and knows her basic commands. She walks beautifully on the leash and seems fine with other dogs met. Smokey was a bit aloof when i first met her. Not anymore..I look forward to see her when I am at the care center and i think that the feeling is mutual as Smokey knows her friends... the loyal Shepherd in her. I always find Smokey resting peacefully on her blankie. She is ready at once for her stroll and company. She has become quite cuddly, loves caresses and settles by my legs for petting and a conversation. She takes treats very politely from my hand.I love Smokey, her soft and gentle manners, her reservation and her graceful looks. I hope that soon enough, she will find her way to a cozy ad loving home, were she truly belongs. Smokey is at the Manhattan Care Center.

SMOKEY is still there...I walked her tonight. She is not that well and vomiting and coughing. brought her to medical, got her meds. She has opened up so much, so sweet. she knows her friends. This is not a place for an 11 yo lady..
*Smokey's friend Baguette was reclaimed by their owner, but Smokey was left behind!!!
